The Artist

My name is Wilco Snijders, and I create under the artist name WIELCO.

Ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated by both LEGO and motorsport. Over time, those two passions naturally came together and evolved into creating life-sized sculptures inspired by Formula 1.

Rather than designing traditional LEGO models, I recreate iconic motorsport objects at full scale with a strong focus on authenticity, craftsmanship and engineering. Every project begins with extensive research into the original object, followed by months of design, prototyping and refinement to achieve the closest possible recreation.

Earlier this year, my complete 2025 British Grand Prix trophy collection and life-sized Formula 1 helmet were exhibited during the British Grand Prix weekend at Silverstone. Seeing my work displayed in the heart of Formula 1 reinforced my ambition to continue pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved with LEGO as an artistic medium.

Through WIELCO, my goal is to build a growing collection of museum-quality motorsport sculptures that celebrate the engineering, history and design of the sport that has inspired me for as long as I can remember.
